One of the hardest part about making films in Los Angeles is that everyone is production savvy. They know what things cost and what they can get out of it. You have to REALLY do your research to find anything. That said, a new system called Peerspace circumvents a ton of bureaucracy that this town has put a stranglehold on. I'm not going into legalese, but it's essentially people who rent out their own places for film or photo shoots. Much like AirBnB did for places to stay outside of hotels or motels, Peerspace lets you rent person to person. That seems to the be the problem, and I see that if you are a corporate business...it is near impossible to film anywhere in Los Angeles since they're all deathly afraid of being sued. This may be a nice tip for those wanting to work here in the future.
