My Back Hurts

I know, I know...bitch bitch bitch. To be honest...if I didn't suffer for art, what else would I have? 16mm film is an interesting beast. Cumbersome, that the actual physical thing is so pliable. A lot of people are turning more and more to 16mm as a viable thing to shoot on. It's nice because you're not killing yourself with the limited amount of footage you're allowed. It goes to 11 minutes per 400 foot roll. And burning through anything more is sort of a waste. I've been working on a 16mm feature now that typically shoots about 3000-4000 feet of film. To cover a few pages we're talking hours. Roughly hovering 2 hours of footage. A 5 pack box of film (in Kodak terms). Any hooters, now I got to buy some more film to continue the trek. This is actually fun. More later.

The First Days

Making a feature film is tough. Fun to be moving getting out and doing things, but Jesus, it's a lot of moving parts. I feel horrid when I lean on people to help me, because...it's rough work. But the friends I have who don't have jobs in the industry LOVE to be involved. "Buddy" has been launched with zero funding, except what comes from my pocket. The reason for this project is simply to keep myself busy while I also produce other things. Other things being larger projects. I'm always inspired by my friends who've now done amazing things and I get to pick their brains over it. So very cool. Any way, the first day of official principal has started. And, well, now is the trip I've got to take. The core story is there and now...I have to keep things moving. I'm very lucky to have a solid support group, though I'm not going to lie. I'm exhausted. A good exhausted. I have to follow through on this project. No more bullshit. Just get ONE in ...
